American Creosote Works Site
Jackson , Tennessee
Remedial investigation work was performed at the American Creosote Works site. This investigation monitored the extent of groundwater impacts of creosote and pentachlorophenol (PCP), which was used in the wood preserving operations conducted at this site for approximately 50 years. Groundwater sampling and analysis of 48 monitoring wells was performed.

Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant
Chattanooga , Tennessee
Remedial investigation activities were conducted at the Volunteer Army Ammunition site. This site is a government-owned facility formerly used for the production and storage of trinitrotoluene (TNT). Various releases resulted in widespread contamination. The groundwater contaminants included TNT, dinitrotoluene, other nitrated organic compounds, lead, polychlorinated biphenyls, pesticides and other related compounds. Additional remedial investigation activities were performed on approximately 1,000 acres of the site. These activities included the collection of over 100 surficial soil samples, subsurface soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and analysis.

Celotex Corporation Site
Paris , Tennessee
Remedial investigation activities were performed at this facility where wood barrel manufacturing was conducted for almost 20 years. Previously the following contaminants had been identified: petroleum hydrocarbons, metals, and phenols.
Sampling and analyzing the sediment in two facility ponds, the former stormwater pond and spray field pond were conducted for the complete Target Analyte List and Target Compound List analysis.
Additionally, the pond investigations, excavation activities were conducted in an area of suspect buried drums. Twenty-nine areas were excavated and soil samples were collected for the Target Analyte List and Target Compound List constituents.

John Little Drum Site
Memphis , Tennessee
Remedial investigation activities were performed at the former drum storage site. The stored drums contained dry cleaning chemicals, solvents and pesticides. Previous investigations indicated the presence of tetrachlorotethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE). The remedial investigation activities included groundwater sampling and analysis, surficial and subsurface soil sampling and analysis. Due to the depth of the monitoring wells (up to 95 feet deep) and the sandy soils beneath the site, roto-sonic drilling methods were utilized.
Aboveground Oil/Water Separator Installation
Meritor Automotive Site
Gordonsville , Tennessee
A limited subsurface investigation was performed to determine the extent of free oil and petroleum-impacted soil resulting from compressor leaks inside the building. The free oil was confined to the gravel fill beneath the building and an adjacent concrete pad. Subsequent to the results of the investigation, an oil collection system was installed to capture free oil in the subsurface and oil from the air compressor condensate. A gravel basin containing a sump pump was constructed and all fluids were routed to an oil/water separator prior to discharge to the POTW.
